Episode 121: 3 Reasons Why You Should Start Your Own Instagram Account At School
I want to tell you something about myself. I am not a fan of social media.
Now, donβt get me wrong, I can definitely zone out while scrolling through reels on Instagram.
The algorithm will always keep sending me videos of dachshunds, basketball highlights, drone shots of the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ and clips of my favorite stand up comedians: Nate Bargatze, Sebastian Maniscalco and Jim Gaffigan.
Iβm just not a fan of how social media makes people feel. A lot of comparison is happening when we see others taking that cool vacation, wearing that new outfit, driving that new car, or posting pics of their latest trendy home decor.
Also, everyone is mad about something and the comments section is to be avoided like the plague
So, if I donβt like social media, why am I doing an episode about why you should start a school Instagram account if you donβt already have one?
Well, I will admit that I have my work cut out for me today. But, I feel strongly that this is something really, really important for you to do as a school leader. On todayβs episode of The Private School Leader Podcast, I am going to give you 3 Reasons Why You Should Start Your Own Instagram Account At School.

I'm going to give you three reasons why you should start an Instagram account
All βright, βso βbefore βI βgive βyou βthe βthree βreasons ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βwhy βI βthink βyou βshould βstart βan βInstagram βaccount, βa βschool βInstagram βaccount βfor βyou βas βthe βschool βleader, βI βwant βto βjust βtell βyou βquickly βabout βhow βI βuse βsocial βmedia. βSo βI βstarted βposting βto βTwitter βback βin β2012 ββ’ ββ’ βand βthen βI βmigrated βto βInstagram βand βdid βInstagram βand βTwitter βStarting βaround β2018 βI βguess. ββ’ βAnd βum, ββ’ βkind βum, ββ’ βof βgot βaway βfrom βTwitter, βbut βum, βum, βyou βknow, βposted βon βInstagram, βum, βum, βfor βstarting βin β2018, β2019. ββ’ βBut βmy βrelationship βwith βsocial βmedia βis βa βone βway βrelationship. ββ’ βAnd βif βI'm βgoing βto βrecommend βyou βto βgive βyou βthree βreasons βwhy βyou βshould βhave βan βInstagram βaccount, ββ’ ββ’ βI βwant βto βmake βsure βthat βyou βunderstand βthat βI'm βnot βtalking βabout ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βyou ββ’ βdoing βthings. βThat's βa βtwo βway βstreet. ββ’ ββ’ βI βreally βstrongly βbelieve βthat βit βneeds βto βbe βa βone βway βrelationship. βAnd βwhat βI βmean βby βthat βis βis βthat βmy βrelationship βwith βInstagram βis βthat βI βpost, ββ’ ββ’ βperiod. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βOkay. βI βdon't βlook βand βsee βwho βliked βit βor βhow βmany βlikes βI βgot βor βI βdon't, βyou βknow, βcare βabout. βI βdon't βreally βfollow βpeople βor βcare βabout βfollowing βpeople. βI βguess βat βthe βbeginning βwhen βI βstarted βmy βaccount βI βfollowed βsome βpeople. βBut βum, βum, ββ’ βyou βknow, βit's βa βone βway βrelationship. βThis βis βme βputting βsomething βout βthere. βPhotos. βAnd βwe'll βget βinto βthe βwhat βin βa βfew βmoments. βBut ββ’ ββ’ βthe, ββ’ ββ’ βthe βKE βhere βfor βme βso βthat βthis βdoesn't βbecome, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βuh, βa βway. βI βdon't βwant βyou βto βuse βInstagram βin βa βway βthat βis βgoing βto βsuck βyou βin. ββ’ ββ’ βI βwant βyou βto βuse βInstagram βin βa βway βthat βis βgoing βto ββ’ ββ’ βbe βa βpositive βfor βyou βand βfor βyour βschool βand βfor βyour βreputation βand βyour βbrand βand βretention βand βall βthe βother βthings βwe're βgoing βto βtalk βabout βin βa βmoment. ββ’ ββ’ βBut βin βmy βexperience, βthe βbest βway βto βdo βthat βis βfor βit βto βbe βa βone βway βrelationship. βSo βI'm βgoing βto βgive βyou βthree βreasons βwhy βyou βshould βstart βyour βown βInstagram βaccount βat βschool. βAnd βthen βI'm βgoing βto βgive βyou βa βcouple βof βdo's βand βdon'ts βat βthe βend βof βthe βepisode. βAnd βthen βfinally βI'm βgoing βto βtell βyou, βyou βknow, βwhat βmy βschool βInstagram βaccount βis βso βyou βcan βcheck βit βout βand βjust βget βsome βideas ββ’ βabout, βyou βknow, βwhat βI've βbeen βtalking βabout βhere βon βthis βepisode.
Having your school Instagram account is good for business and student retention
So βlet's βget βinto βit. βThe βthree βreasons βwhy βyou βshould βstart βyour βown βInstagram βaccount βat βschool. ββ’ βReason βnumber βone, ββ’ βit's βgood βfor βbusiness. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βOkay, βso βwhat βdo βI βmean βthat βit's βgood βfor βbusiness? βAgain, βI'm βtalking βabout ββ’ βhaving βyour βown βpersonal βInstagram βaccount, βa βschool βInstagram βaccount, βnot βyour βprivate βInstagram βaccount. βBut βthis βis βwhere βyou're βposting ββ’ ββ’ βthings βthat βare βhappening βat βyour βschool. βThings βthat βyou βsee βwhen βyou're βwalking βaround βthe βschool, βum, βum, βthings βat βevents, βthings βin βthe βhallway, βthings βat βthe βbasketball βgame, βthings βthat βare βgoing βon βthat βare βcool βwhen βyou're βwalking βaround βand βyou βsee βpop βinto βclassrooms βand βall βthese βdifferent βthings βand βyou're βjust βputting βthat βout βthere βand βI'll βtalk βabout βsuggestions βon βhow βoften βand βyou βknow, βall βthe βdifferent βthings βlater βon. βJust βdon't βworry βabout βthat βright βnow. βJust βthink βabout βthe βreasons βwhy βthis βis βgood. βAnd βso βreason βnumber βone βis βit's βgood βfor βbusiness. βSo ββ’ βum, βI'm βgoing βtoa βgive βyou βum, βa βfew βways βhere, βactually βfour βquick βways βthat βit's βgood βfor βbusiness. ββ’ ββ’ βSo βhaving βyour βschool βInstagram βaccount ββ’ ββ’ βis βgood βfor βstudent βretention. ββ’ βAnd βI βbelieve βthat βa βkey βto βstudent βretention, βuh, βis βphotos βof βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings. ββ’ βAnd βI'm βjust βgoing βto βsay βit βagain. βI βthink βthat βour βmessaging, ββ’ ββ’ βa βlot βof βit βboils βdown βto ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βphotos βof βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings ββ’ ββ’ βand βgetting βthat ββ’ βinto βthe βeyes βand βthe βbrains βof βthe βparents βand βthe βgrandparents βand βthe βdonors βand βthe βalumni ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βas βoften βas βpossible. βAnd βyou βknow, βwe'll βtalk βin βanother βepisode βabout βwhat βthat βcould βlook βlike βon βyour βwebsite βor βin βa βweekly βparent βmemo βor βthings βof βthat βnature. βBut βright βnow βwe're βtalking βabout βyour βschool βInstagram βaccount, βyour βpersonal βschool βInstagram βaccount. ββ’ βAnd βso ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings βhelps βto βfill βthe βnarrative βvoid βand βthat βincreases βstudent βretention. βBecause ββ’ ββ’ βespecially βkids βwhen βthey βbecome βtweens βand βteens βthere's βa βnarrative βvoid βbecause βwhen βthey βcome βhome βthe βparents βare βlike βwell, βwhat'd βyou βdo βat βschool βtoday? βNothing. βDid βyou βlearn βanything? βNo. βDid βyou βdo βanything βfun βtoday? βUh, βno. βAnd βso βthen βday βafter βday βafter βday βof βthat βat βthe βdinner βtable βor βfrom βthe βback βseat βof βthe βcar, βcreates βa βnarrative βvoid. βAnd βone βof βthe βthings βthat βhelps βto βoffset βthat βis βwhen βthe βparents βare βactually βseeing βphotos. βThese βphotos βare βso βpowerful, ββ’ ββ’ βand βthe βparents βare βpaying βa βlot βof βmoney βfor βthis βservice βthat βwe're βproviding. βThey βwant βtheir βkids βto βbe βhappy, βand βthey βgenerally βbelieve βthat. βBut βthis βreally, βreally βhelps βwith βstudent βretention. βThey βneed βthe βconstant βreminders. βThey, βthey βenjoy βthat βsurprise βand βdelight βwhen βthey βsee βa βchild, βtheir βchild, βum, βdoing βsomething βinteresting, βor βeven βa βkid βthat βthey βknow βfrom βtheir βkid βclass, βor βit βdoesn't βeven βhave βto βbe βa βkid βthat βthey βknow. βIt βjust βgives βthem βthis, βthis, βum. βThink βabout βit βthis βway. βIt βis βjust βa βconstant. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βLet's βsay βthat βyou're βbuilding. βYou're βbuilding βa βbrick, βa βhouse βmade βout βof βbricks, βokay? βAnd βyou're βbuilding βthis βbeautiful βmansion βout βmade βout βof βbricks. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βUm, βif βyou βput βone βbrick βor βtwo βbricks βa βday βon βthat, ββ’ βum, βwall, βthat βis βthe βone βwall βin βthe βmansion, βokay, βit's βgoing βto βtake βa βwhile, βit's βgoing βto βtake βtime, βbut βyou're βmaking βprogress βevery βday. βAnd βit's βconstant. βAnd βit's βsmall, βbut βit's βconstant. βAnd βthen βeventually βyou're βgonna βhave βthis βbeautiful βhome. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βYou βknow, βI βwant βyou βto βthink βabout βit βas βthese βlittle βbits βof βthese βlittle βbricks, βthese βlittle βthings βthat βyou're βbuilding. βYou're βbuilding βa βnarrative βwith βthe βparents βthat βour βschool βis βfun, βthe βkids βare βhappy, βthey're βdoing βinteresting βthings, βand βit's βworth βit. βAnd βwhen βthat's βwhat βthe βparents βbelieve, βstudent βretention βis βgoing βto βbe βhigh. ββ’ ββ’ βSo βit's βgood βfor βbusiness βbecause βit's βalso βgood βfor βteacher βretention ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βbecause βif βyou're βout βand βabout, βand βI'll βtalk βlater βabout, βyou βknow, βhow βhaving βyour, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βum, βInstagram βaccount βat βschool βwill βhelp βyou βbe βout βand βabout βin βthe βschool βmore βoften. βIt'll βget βyou βout βof βyour βoffice βmore, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βthat βyou're βpopping βinto βteachers βclassrooms, ββ’ ββ’ βand βthat βhelps βthem βfeel βsupported, βhelps βthem βfeel βseen. βAnd βwhen βI'm βposting βsomething βabout, βyou βknow, βtheir. βThey're βdoing βthis βexperiment βin βscience, βor βthey're βdebating βthis βtopic βin βsocial βstudies, βor βthey're βreading βabout βthis βspecific, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βum, βauthor βor βa βpoem βor βthis βartist βin βart βclass, βwhatever βit βmight βbe. ββ’ ββ’ βUm, βyou βknow, ββ’ ββ’ βseveral βof βmy βteachers βfollow ββ’ ββ’ βmy βInstagram, βand βso βif βI'm βposting βstuff βthat βthey're βdoing. βDon't βyou βthink βthat βthat βmakes βthem βfeel βsupported βand βfeel βseen? βAnd βit βdoes. βAnd βit βhelps βwith βteacher βattention, βhelps βwith βschool βculture βtoo. ββ’ βAnother βway βthat βit's βgood βfor βbusiness βis βwith βrecruitment. ββ’ βYou βknow, βyour βInstagram βis βpublic βfacing βfor βnot βjust βcurrent βfamilies, βbut βfor βprospective βfamilies βas βwell. ββ’ βAnd βyou βknow, βthey βcan βget βa βsense βof βyou βas βa βleader. ββ’ βAre βyou βcompetent, βare βyou βpassionate, βare βyou βfun, βare βyou βwarm? βYou βknow, βand βyou're βlike, βwell, βhow βdoes βthat βcome βthrough? βIt βdoes, βyou βknow, βeventually βwith βjust βthe βphotos βthat βyou βpost βand ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βthe βcaptions, ββ’ ββ’ βum, ββ’ βit βgives βyou βvibe, βit βgives, ββ’ ββ’ βyou βknow, βit βkind βof βyour βbrand. ββ’ βUm, βand βit βdoesn't βhave βto βbe βcomplicated. βYou're βnot βa βsocial βmedia βinfluencer βand βI'm βnot βtrying βto βturn βyou βinto βone. βI βjust βwant βit βto βbe βthat βyou're βout βof βyour βoffice, βthat βyou're βusing βthis βamazing βcamera βthat βyou βcarry βaround βall βday βlong βin βyour βsmartphone βand βthat βthere's βa βway βfor βyou βto βput βout βinto βthe βworld ββ’ ββ’ βwhat βyou're βseeing. ββ’ βBecause βit's βsuper βfrustrating βas βa βleader βwhen βyour βschool βfeels βlike βthe βbest βkept βsecret βin βthe βworld βand βyou're βkeeping βthe βsecret βfrom βthe βparents. ββ’ ββ’ βSo, βum, βit's βnot βjust βabout βcurrent βfamilies, βit's βnot βjust βabout βteachers, βbut βit's βabout, βyou βknow, βpotential βrecruitments, βprospective βfamilies. βAnd βyou βknow, βsome βof βyour βpictures βare βgoing βtoa βend βup βon βthe βwebsite βor βon βthe βFacebook βpage βfor βthe βschool βor βin βthe βparent βmemo βbecause ββ’ ββ’ βthey're βgoing βto βbe βgood βpictures. βThey're βgoing βto βbe βinteresting, βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings. βAnd βa βlot βof βmy βstuff βhas βended βup βin βa βlot βof βother βplaces βin βthe βschool. βSo βit's βgood βfor βrecruitment. βAnd βthen βfinally βthe βway βit's βgood βfor βbusinesses βis βthat βit's βgood βfor βfundraising. βBecause βhere's βthe βthing, βover βthe βyears ββ’ ββ’ βthat βI've βbeen βposting, βyou βknow, βour βschool βgoes βup βto βeighth βgrade βand βa βlot βof βkids, ββ’ ββ’ βuh, βwho βget βto βbe βinto βmiddle βschool, βthey'll βfollow βme ββ’ ββ’ βand βtheir βparents βwill βfollow βme. βAnd βI'll βtalk βlater βabout βhow βonce βyou βhave βthis βInstagram βaccount, βhow βdo βparents βfind βout βabout βit? βBecause, βyou βknow, βyou're βsitting βthere βthinking, βwell, βyeah, βI βhear βMark βsaying βabout βposting βthese βphotos, βbut βlike, βhow βdo βthe βparents βeven βknow βso βthat βthey βcan βfollow βme? βI'll βgive, βI'll βgive βyou βthat βin βa βlittle βbit. ββ’ βBut βmy βpoint βis βthat βwhen βkids βgraduate βfrom βour βschool βat βeighth βgrade, ββ’ ββ’ βthey βdon't βunfollow βme. βThe βparents βdon't βUnfollow βme. βSo βnow βthese βare βalumni βand βalumni βparents βwho βI've βbeen βposting βfor βa βlong βtime, βeven βthough βour βschool βonly βgoes βup βto βeighth βgrade. βYou βknow, βa βlot βof βthese βkids, βthey've βgraduated βfrom, βum βcollege. βMany βof βthem βgraduated βfrom βhigh βschool. βTheir βparents, ββ’ ββ’ βyou βknow, βthese βare βnow βalumni, βalumni, βparents, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βand βthat's βwhere βyour βdonors βare. βAnd βso ββ’ ββ’ βwhat βare βwe βalways βtrying βto βdo? βWe're βtrying βto βkeep βthat βconnection. βWhat βis βyour βcollege βtrying βto βdo, βfor βcrying βout βloud? βI βgraduated βfrom ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βPenn βuh ββ’ βState βUniversity ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βin β1990, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βum, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ β35 βyears βago. βAnd βI'm βstill. βI βstill βget βemails βfrom βthem βabout βthe βalumni βassociation. βOkay, βMy βpoint βis βthis. βYou're βtrying βto βget, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βum, βparents, βuh, βgraduates, βalumni βparents, βgrandparents. βYou're βtrying βto βkeep βthem βto βhave βa βcontinued βconnection βto βyour βschool, βto βkind βof βknow βwhat's βgoing βon, βto βkind βof βfeel βthat βnostalgia βand βthat βconnection, βbecause βthey're βmore βlikely βto βgive. ββ’ βWell, βone βof βthe βways βthat βthis βconnection ββ’ ββ’ βcan βoccur βis βthrough βInstagram. βAnd βI'm βtelling βyou, βit βcan βlead βto βgoodwill βand βit βcan βlead βto βdonations. βSo βhaving βyour, βum, βown βInstagram βaccount βat βschool ββ’ βis βgood βfor βbusiness. ββ’ βAll βright? βReason βnumber βtwo βis βthat βit's βgood βfor βyou. ββ’ βIt's βgood βfor βyou. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βthe βfirst βreason βit's βgood βfor βyou βis βmore βdopamine. ββ’ ββ’ βSo βI βsaid, βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings. ββ’ ββ’ βWhen βyou're βout βand βabout βin βthe βschool βand βyou're βtaking βpictures βof ββ’ ββ’ βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings, βyou're βgoing βto βget βa βdopamine βhit βand βanother βone, βand βanother βone.
Three reasons why you should start your own Instagram account at school
And βhere's βthe βthing. βWhen βI βopen βup βmy, βum, βInstagram βand βI βjust βkind βof, βlike, βlook βback βthrough βold βphotos, βit βmakes βme βso βhappy. βI'm βgetting ββ’ βdopamine βhits βjust βthinking βabout βit. βAnd βso βmy βpoint βis, βis βthat βit's βgood βfor βyou βfor βso βmany βreasons. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βwe'll βtalk βabout βa βcouple βmore βhere βin βa βsecond. βBut ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βour βbrains βare βmarinating βin βcortisol, βokay? βAnd βso βwe βjust βneed βto βoffset βa βlot βof βthat βstress βand βanxiety βand βcortisol βand βfight βor βflight βwith βsome βdopamine. ββ’ βAnd βhappy βkids βdoing βinteresting βthings ββ’ ββ’ βis βgoing βto βgive βyou βa βdopamine βhit. βYou βtake βa βpicture, βyou βpost βit βon βInstagram, βyou βjust βkind βof βget βinto βthe βhabit βof βdoing βthat, βand βit's βgoing βto βbe βmore βdopamine, βless βcortisol. ββ’ βThe βsecond βreason ββ’ βwhy βit's βgood βfor βyou βis βbecause βit's βfun. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βYou βknow, βschool βis βsupposed βto βbe βfun, βand βthere βare βfun βthings βhappening βat βyour βschool. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βit. βThe βproblem βis, βis βthat βwe ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βoften ββ’ ββ’ βget βso ββ’ ββ’ βtied βup ββ’ ββ’ βwith βthe βthings βthat βwe βare βresponsible βfor βand βthe βtyranny βof βthe βurgent βand βeveryone βelse βwanting βus βto βadopt βtheir βdefinition βof βurgent βthat βwe βdon't βget βout βand βabout βmuch, βas βmuch βas βwe βwould βlike βto. βAnd βthen ββ’ ββ’ βwe're βnot βinteracting βwith βthe βfun βparts βof βour βschool. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βso βschool βis βsupposed βto βbe βfun. βAnd βwhen βyou βare βposting βon βInstagram, βit's βfun. βSo, βfor βexample, βyou βknow, βkids βin βthe βhall βon βa βspirit βday, βor βthe βsixth βgraders βat βthe βlunch βtable, βwhether, βyou βknow, βat βour βschool, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βum, βif βit's βnice βweather, βit's βout βof βthe βpicnic βtables, βor βit's. ββ’ βIf βit's βin βthe βcafeteria, βyou βjust βwalk βup. βAnd βhere's βthe βthing. βTweens βand βteens, βthey're βalways βup βfor βa βphoto βto βbe, βyou βknow, βand βthey're βgonna βmug βit βup βfor βthe βcamera. βThat's βfine. ββ’ ββ’ βThe βmore βthat βthey βmug βit βup βfor βthe βcamera, βthe βmore βhappy βand βfun βthat. βI βmean, βthey're βhappy. βYou're βnot. βThis βisn't βmanipulation. βThis βisn't βlike, βokay, βsmile. βAnd βthey βlook βmiserable. βAll βday βlong, βyou βsee βhappy βkids. ββ’ ββ’ βThe βparents βneed βto βsee βhappy βkids ββ’ ββ’ βbecause βwhen βtheir βkid βrolls βhome, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βespecially βif βthey're βa βteen βor βa βtween, ββ’ ββ’ βdo βyou βthink βthat βthe βexpression βon βthat βkid's βface ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βafter βa βlong βday βof βschool βand βmaybe βa βpractice βor βtwo, βum, βand βthen βthey've βgot βhomework βto βdo βand βblah, βblah, βblah. βDo βyou βthink βthe βexpression βon βthat βkid's βface βmatches βwhat βyou βusually βsee βat βschool? βNo. βThey're βtwo βdifferent βthings. βSo βwhat βis βthe βparent βseeing? ββ’ ββ’ βThey're βseeing ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βunhappy βkid βor βtired, βgrumpy βkid. βAnd βI βget βit, βthat's βa βteenager. βThat's βtheir βjob βwhen βit βcomes βto βtheir βparents. βBut βyou're βseeing βa βdifferent βkid. βHow βcan βwe βhelp βthe βparents βsee βwhat βtheir βkids βlook βlike βat βschool? ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βI'm βtelling βyou, βthis βis βthe βway. βAnd βso βwhether βit's βkids βin βthe βhall, βkids, βit's βa βlunch βtable βthat βare βmugging βfor βthe βcamera. βUm, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βbuilding βa βsnowman βat βrecess. βUm, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βit βcould βbe βkindergarteners βpainting βa βpicture, βor βseventh βgraders βtesting βout βtheir. βThe βrobot βthat βthey βbuilt βin βtechnology βclass βwith βkids ββ’ βhaving βfun. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βwhen βyou're ββ’ ββ’ βaround βkids βhaving βfun, βyou're βhaving βfun. ββ’ ββ’ βSo βthe βthree βreasons βwhy βyou βshould βstart βyour βown βInstagram βaccount βat βschool. βNumber βone, ββ’ βit's βgood βfor βyou. βReason βnumber βtwo, ββ’ ββ’ βit's βgood βfor. βExcuse βme. βReason βnumber βone, βit's βgood βfor βbusiness. βReason βNumber βtwo, βit's βgood βfor βyou. βAnd βreason βnumber βthree βis βit βmakes βyou βa βmore βvisible βleader. ββ’ ββ’
School leaders often say they wish they had more time at school
So βI βasked βthis βquestion ββ’ ββ’ βof βmy βclients, βmy βcoaching βclients, ββ’ ββ’ βand βthe βquestion βis, βyou βknow, βfill βin βthe βblank. βI βwish, βI βreally βwish βthat βI βhad βmore βtime βat βschool βto βdo βblank ββ’ ββ’ βor βit's βbeen βso βlong βsince βI βdid βblank, βyou βknow, βat βschool. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βyou βknow, βyou βmight βwant βto βanswer βthat βquestion βyourself. βI βreally βwish βI βhad βmore βtime βto βdo βblank βat βschool. βWell, βI βwant βto βtell βyou βabout β90% βof βthe βtime βthe βanswer βis βthe βsame. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βthey βsay βthat βthey βwish βthat βthey βwere, βum, βable βto βget βinto βclassrooms βmore βor βable βto βget βout βand βabout βin βthe βschool βmore βoften. βThat's βabout β90% βof βthe βtime βwhat βI βhear βfrom βcoaching βclients βand βwhat βI βhear βfrom βThrive βAcademy βstudents βduring βoffice βhours. ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βso, ββ’ ββ’ βyou βknow, βto βfurther βprove βthat βpoint, βyou βknow, βepisode β95 ββ’ ββ’ βwhich βI'll βlink βin βthe βshow βnotes@the βprivateschoolleader.com βepisode β121, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βit's βcalled βhow βto βbe βa βmore βvisible βleader βthis βyear. βThat's βone βof βthe βtop βthree βdownloaded βepisodes ββ’ ββ’ βout βof β121 βepisodes. βOkay. βSo ββ’ βpeople, ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βschool βleaders βthat βare βlistening βto βthis βpodcast, ββ’ βthey βwant βto βdo βthat. βThey're βdownloading βan βepisode βabout βhow βto βstrategically βbe βable βto βdo βthat βmore βoften. βOkay. βAnd βthen βanother βone βthat βwas βreally βdownloaded βa βlot βis βa βmore βrecent βepisode βand βit's βcalled, βum, βit's βepisode β117. βIt's βcalled βthere's βjoy βon βyour βcampus. βIt's βjust βnot βin βyour βoffice. ββ’ ββ’ βAnd βI βwant βyou βto βthink βabout βthe βinside βof βyour βoffice βfor βa βmoment. βOkay? βJust βpicture βit. βYou βknow, βthere's βyour βdesk, βthere's βthe βthing βthat's βhanging βon βyour βwall. βThere's βthe βphone, ββ’ βthere's βthe βcomputer, βthere's βa βchair. βYou βknow, βjust βpicture βyour βoffice. βOkay, ββ’ βNow ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βI βwant βyou βto βthink βabout, βis βthere βanything βthat's βInstagram βworthy βin βyour βoffice? ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ ββ’ βOkay. βLike, βmhm. βProbably βnot. βOkay, βso βyou βhave βto βgo βto βthe βJoy βand βI'll βlink βepisode β117 βin βthe βshow βnotes βas βwell. βThere's βjoy βon βyour βcampus, βit's βjust βnot βin βyour βoffice. βYou βhave βto βgo βto βthe βJoy βand βthen βjust βtake βpictures βof βthe βjoy βand βpost βit. βI βknow βI'm βmaking βit βsound βeasy, βbut βI'm βtelling βyou, βuh, βthere βwill βbe βa βlittle βfriction βwhen βyou βget βstarted βas βfar βas βlike βthe βhow βand βthe βwhen βand βwhatever, βbut βit's, βit'll βbe βvery, βvery βeasy βand βvery βintuitive βand βfun. βOnce βyou βstart βdoing βit, βokay, βso βyou βgot βto βgo βto βthe βjoy βand βthen βphotograph βthe βjoy βand βthen βpost βit. ββ’ ββ’ βSo βthose βare βthe βthree βreasons.
Every school should have a weekly parent memo, it can be in there
